Aaron Drake is a Captain with the University of Southern California, Department of Public Safety.  He is responsible for the Field Operations at USC Health Sciences campus and Healthcare Security Operations at all the USC owned and affiliated hospitals.

He started his career in Law Enforcement at the L.A. County Sheriff’s Academy as a Sheriff’s Explorer in 1977. He went on to attend the Sheriff's Leadership Academy and was appointed as an Explorer Senior. Captain Drake continued his public service career and entered the L.A. County Sheriff’s Academy in 1985 and has over 20+ years in the Law Enforcement profession. He has worked a variety of assignments such as traffic, patrol and detectives during his career. He started his career in campus law enforcement in September 1989. To assist with the transition into campus law enforcement, he attended numerous university training seminars and university sponsored conferences.

Since joining the USC Department of Public Safety, Captain Drake has worked a variety of assignments including Patrol and Administrative. He started as a Public Safety Officer I in 1989 and was assigned as a Field Training Officer shortly afterward.  He worked patrol and other special assignments during that time period.

He was promoted to Sergeant in September 1991. While assigned as Field Sergeant, he was in charge of the USC Bike, FTO program, DPS Use of Force Review board and was an Acting Watch Commander.

He was promoted to Lieutenant in April 2004. During his assignment as Lieutenant he was assigned as Officer in Charge of the Health Sciences Campus. He is responsible for the Administrative and Field Operations along with Healthcare Security operations at all the USC affiliated hospitals with the assistance of a Manager. He serves as the liaison for other law enforcement and security agencies in the HSC area including LAPD-Hollenbeck Division, LA County Sheriff’s and the Los Angeles County Police Department.  He was promoted to Captain in August 2005 and remains the Commanding Officer at the Health Sciences Campus.

Captain Drake is a member of several peace officer associations, such as Los Angeles County Peace Officers Association (LACPOA), Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS), California Reserve Peace Officers Association (CRPOA), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Professional Peace Officers Association (PPOA) and others.

During his tenure, he has completed management and POST certified courses: LA County Sheriff’s Deputy Leadership Institute, USC Executive Management course, Frontline Leadership course, LAPD Supervision course, POST certification class, POST Supervisors course, Reserve POST certificate, Basic POST certification in progress and other training classes at Rio Hondo College. He attended Compton College and currently is working towards the completion of a Bachelors Degree at Rio Hondo College.

Captain Drake is also a member of the Bellflower Rotary Club, Chairman-City of Bellflower Public Safety Commission, Bellflower Mayor’s Advisory Council, District Representative Area-I City of Bellflower, Youth Sports Coach-Bellflower Parks and Recreation department, Block Watch Captain, LA County Workforce Investment Board member, LA County Sheriff's Assistant Coordinators Award winner and Bellflower City Council candidate 2007-08.
