Stanley Henderson

  Welcome from Stanley Henderson

Stan Henderson is a Director with the University of Southern California Department of Public Safety (DPS). His areas of responsibility include facilities, fleet services, property/evidence, communications/equipment management and logistic support services.

Stan began his DPS career as Security Information Clerk in 1985. He was appointed Property Evidence Equipment Officer II in 1986. He was promoted to Unit Supervisor in 1988, to Manager of the Facilities Equipment Logistics Unit in 1994, then to Senior Manager in 2004 and, lastly, to Director in 2006.

Stan is an active member of numerous organizations including the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), International Association for Property Evidence (IAPE), Marine Corps University Foundation, USC Black Staff and Faculty Caucus and the USC Staff Assembly, whereupon he serves as an executive board member.

Stan is a member of the USC Credit Union Supervisory Committee, which has oversight responsibility of over 300 million dollars in assets. He was a founding member of the Los Angeles City College/Los Angeles Police Department Training Advisory Board.

Stan is a native of Los Angeles and a product of the Los Angeles Unified School District having attended 111th and 112th Street Elementary Schools, George Washington Carver Junior High School and Thomas Jefferson High School. 

Stan is a graduate of the Jimmy Ryce Law Enforcement Training Center’s Chief Executive Officer Program at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia. He holds a certificate in Management Development from the USC Marshall School of Business Executive Development Program and a certificate in Leadership Development from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. On a historical note, Stan directed and coordinated the security for the 3-city 2005 National Memorial Service for Rosa Parks held in Montgomery, Alabama; Washington D.C, and Detroit, Michigan.

Stan has two adult children, a son, Abdul who is a former Marine and Iraq war veteran and lives in Washington D.C., and a daughter, Qiuamma who is currently in the United States Air Force.  He also has three grandchildren.

Stan is a published poet and is currently writing a book on servant leadership. In his spare time, Stan enjoys reading, researching black family history, and writing short stories and poetry.
