| There is a three (3) day waiting period between the date of injury and the time worker's compensation benefits begin. A physician must certify this time off. Sick leave should be used for the first three (3) days that an injured employee is off work. If an employee has no sick time left, then vacation days could be used |

The maximum rate allowed currently under the California law is $882 per week.
Benefits are calculated based ont eh employee's salary.
All employees are paid through the USC payroll system. Some employees may also be eligible for additional benefits to supplement those provided by Workers' Compensation. Supplemental Disability Benefits need to be applied for separately by calling VPA at (800) 495-2315 (See Disability website). |
