As an Employee
Think of it as on-the-job insurance. Workers’ Compensation provides complete medical benefits to an injured worker. There are no deductible or other out of pocket expenses. If you receive bills regarding your injury, forward them to our office for further handling.

Eligibility for coverage – Coverage begins the very first paid minute you are on the job. Any injury or illness that a physician has determined to be caused by your employment is covered. You must be acting within the course and scope of your employment at the time of the injury or illness to be eligible for compensation.

Exceptions to Coverage – Employees engaged in non-work related physical activities, i.e., USC Lyon Center workouts, participating in sports; employees with common colds, flu and other viruses, Independent Contractors, Visiting Scholars, Guests of the University.

Medical Certification- Employee must provide a note from the physician to his/her Supervisor specifying the return to work status and restrictions, if any. The University has a formal Stay at Work/Return to Work Program, please see website for further details.
