A department manager contacts Professional Development (PD) and seeks advice on work performance issues. The manager and PD consultants identify factors that may be having an impact on work performance.

Needs Analysis |
|
PD consultants gather information from the manager and his or her team to help define performance gaps. This may include conducting surveys, focus groups, and/or interviews.

|
|
|
Intervention Strategy |
|
Based on the results of the needs analysis in Step 2, the department and PD consultants collaborate to identify the best strategy to address the performance issues. Examples might include conducting an off-site retreat or teambuilding session, facilitating a meeting or strategic planning session, or providing executive coaching to management.

Implementation |
|
The recommended strategies identified in Step 3 are implemented. This could involve training or a series of interventions designed to improve overall performance on the job.

Results Analysis |
|
The manager and PD consultants collaborate to measure the impact of the intervention(s) by assessing performance improvement and its impact on departmental effectiveness.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Continuous Improvement |
|
Professional Development consultants follow up with the department to sustain and reinforce training and performance improvement to ensure continuing effectiveness. |
