Shipping Biological Material

Biohazardous materials are constantly transported between USC and facilities throughout the world. The process of shipping these materials is covered by a number of regulations, and violations can lead to refusal to accept shipment or fines. If you or others in your laboratory are responsible for the transport or movement of biological or biohazardous materials, at least one person from your lab should complete the appropriate training.

A Saf-T-Pak CD-rom that covers state, federal, and international regulations regarding documentation and shipping containers is available through the Laboratory Safety office. Those who successfully complete the training will receive a certificate that must be renewed every two years.

Contact the Biology Safety Office at (323) 864-3187 for more information.
