How do I apply for a job at USC?

USC utilizes an online application process. No hard copy, e-mailed, or faxed resumes will be accepted. You can apply for a job from any computer with Internet access. If you do not have a computer with Internet access, Employee Recruitment Services office has partnered with the local WorkSource Center who have computers specifically designated for online job applicants. appointment. When you apply for a job online you will receive a confirmation page indicating that your resume/application materials were successfully submitted into the automated recruitment tracking system. You are strongly encouraged to print this important page for future reference. If you do not receive a confirmation page, please contact our office. Please keep in mind the following:

  • If you do not follow the process or your application/resume is incomplete, your information will not be processed.
  • Meeting the minimum qualifications for a particular position does not assure the applicant an interview.
  • While the acceptance of a resume does not obligate the University to employ you, we make every effort to process and refer your resume as quickly as possible in order for it to receive consideration by the appropriate hiring managers.
  • Positions are full-time (100%) and "open until filled," unless otherwise stated.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once your application materials are received they will be reviewed by one of our recruiters. Should you meet the minimum qualifications of the position for which you have applied, your application materials will be forwarded to the applicable department for further review and consideration.

You will hear from the appropriate department directly should they be interested in setting up a personal interview. Due to the high volume of resumes we receive, you may not hear back from a specific department. In addition, each department has different hiring needs so the length of the hiring process will vary depending on the position. Therefore, your patience is greatly appreciated.



What type of background screen will be conducted if I am selected as the successful candidate for an open position?
Prior to being extended an offer of employment, the university will conduct a background check on all final candidates including, but not limited to the following:
  • Confirmation of an individual's identity via social security number trace;
  • A review of local, state, and federal criminal conviction records;
  • Employment and educational verifications;
  • Certification and/or licensure verification (if applicable);
  • and checking your professional references (at least three).

Postdoctoral Scholars @ USC
The University of Southern California welcomes Postdoctoral Scholars who wish to perform research at the university as a trainee and encourages its faculty to advise, mentor and assist these developing scholars and researchers. Throughout the year, various schools may have employment opportunities for Postdoctoral Research Associates and Research Associates who wish to perform research in their disciplines. Please contact the appropriate school regarding availability of Postdoctoral Fellow positions or employment opportunities for Postdoctoral Research Associates and Research Associates.
