This is a nationally recognized property identification program to deter theft and aid in recovery. You identify your property by engraving your driver license number on your property and keeping a record of each item, including a description. For unusual or high value items such as jewelry, valuable artwork, special equipment, it is advisable to take pictures. You can borrow an engraver from the USC DPS Crime Prevention and Community Education Unit. There is a $20 deposit for the engraver, which is refunded when you return the engraver.  Mark personal property with your student ID number and your initials.

It is also suggested to include additional markings such as "USC" and "expected graduation date" as well as the USC DPS business number "(213) 740-6000". University property should also be marked "USC" and the "university department" and the USC DPS business number "(213) 740-6000".
